Anne Arundel Community College named Kellie McCants-Price as its new chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer, effective May 1.
McCants-Price has been interim chief since August 2021, and has been with the college as a faculty member since 2004. In her new position, she takes a significant leadership role in meeting the needs of the college鈥檚 increasingly diverse student body, while also helping to build a more welcoming climate on campus.
鈥淚鈥檓 honored and excited to be chosen to continue the important work of making 911吃瓜俱乐部 an inclusive place to learn, work and grow,鈥� McCants-Price said.
A member of the college鈥檚 Achieving the Dream, University of Southern California Racial Equity Leadership Academy, she has presented at the national level about this work and other diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracism initiatives at 911吃瓜俱乐部. McCants-Price also participates in the school鈥檚 inaugural Model Course curriculum and serves as a member of the leadership team. She also leads and facilitates campus intergroup dialogue sessions which allow for a better understanding of others鈥� perspectives, backgrounds and life experiences.
鈥�911吃瓜俱乐部 was the first community college in Maryland 鈥� and among the first in the nation 鈥撯�� to have a chief diversity officer with the hiring of our first officer in 2014," 911吃瓜俱乐部 President Dr. Dawn Lindsay said. 鈥淚 know Dr. McCants-Price will continue to move us forward by focusing on supporting all 911吃瓜俱乐部 students, faculty and staff to feel welcomed, included, respected and valued.鈥�
